Northern Carers Network Inc. (NCN) is a not for profit Carer support organization operating in the northern metro region of Adelaide since 1997. It is funded by State and Federal government to support Carers in their caring role and link them to services in their local community.

Carers are people who care for a family member or friend with a disability, chronic illness or are frail aged. Some Carers may provide nursing care for up 24 hours a day in an unpaid capacity with little or no training at all. Others may care for family and friends who are fairly independent but may need someone to keep an eye on them or help them with daily tasks.

Northern Carers Network Inc. is a place where unpaid family and friends Carers come first. They offer a range of flexible early preventative supports to Carers who belong to the communities of Gawler, Salisbury, Playford, Tea Tree Gully and Pt. Adelaide/Enfield Council areas. This is achieved through the provision of:
> Non-therapeutic counselling and Carer support groups
> Information and advisory service
> Education and capacity building
> Flexible respite options
> Linkages to a multitude of services.

Staff from Northern Carers Network Inc. have attended public Owl Learning Australia workshops such as Accidental Counsellor, Positive Behaviour Support and Emerging Leaders. Owl Learning Australia has also facilitated on-site workshops for Northern Carers Network Inc. such as Customer Service (which also included information about the National Disability Insurance Scheme and Consumer Directed Care), Accidental Counsellor and Group Work, Reflective Practice and Self Care (which also included information about Managing Change) and Cultural Awareness.

Maria Ross (Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Carers Network Inc.) has provided us with this feedback:
"The course contents offered by Owl Learning Australia has been excellent, as has the knowledge and experience of Rebecca, who has managed to pack a lot of information into a very short time frame but in a way that is both enjoyable and educational. A key to the success of the training delivered by Owl Learning Australia was the way that Rebecca built up a rapport with the attendees in no time and provided practical examples on the subjects, which has made the training highly participatory and inclusive."
